Choosing a Mover

If you are looking for the lowest price read no further.

Do you want to save a few bucks up front with the risk of losing thousands later? Or, would you like the greatest return on your investment?  Take some time to get educated about the moving process and your prospective mover as not all movers are created equal.  Our prices are very competitive and in line with the quality you expect and deserve.

Equipment - Different types of moves require different types of equipment.  In particular, Peterson Movers is versatile in our moving style and has many types of modern equipment that are "tried and true" from our past 63+ years of business.  This equipment allows us to get the job done safely and efficiently.

We literally have hundreds of steel moving beams, many moving dollies and other custom built equipment, which allows us to adapt to your needs.  The size and type of equipment is very important for keeping the height of a building low to the ground to reduce the cost of moving overhead utility lines.  The proper equipment is also very important so the building or other property is not damaged in the move.  Keep in mind that the best equipment is not worth much at all if the mover does not have the knowledge to use the equipment properly.

Knowledge - Peterson Movers is rich with heritage as it has 63+ years of experience in the moving industry.  Furthermore, we are active members, in good standing with many trade associations, which helps us to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques, training and equipment.  Our employees also have training in job site safety and Red Cross CPR and first aid.  Lastly, we have been presented with many awards from the moving industry.

The following list includes statistics from some of our moves:

1991: Widest building moved - 80ft x 110ft warehouse for Consolidated Paper Co.
1992: Longest building moved - 60ft x 140ft warehouse for John Deere Tractor.
1993: Widest building moved - 80ft x 110ft warehouse for Consolidated Paper Co.
1995: Most innovative move - used soaped wedges, a technique that was developed for a very difficult move and is now being used by movers all across the country.
1998: Longest building moved - 36ft x 130ft barn/shed for Cummings Brothers Con.
2001: Longest building moved - 65ft x 110ft warehouse for Central Sands Builders.
2006: Longest building moved - 32ft x 198ft Brittingham boat house for the city of Madison in Wisconsin.

Estimates - Peterson Movers will only give an estimate after looking at a building or project.  However, you can call us with general information about your building or project and we will try to give you a price range for the job.  This is a big difference between us and some of our competitors who may 1) bid over the phone without seeing the building or project or 2) will ask what we bid the job for before giving you their price or 3) low ball the bid to get the job.  Only for them to bill you for extras that you thought were included in the contract, which many times will bring the price over and beyond our bid.  In any case...do you think you are getting the best price or mover?

Secondly, we don't have clauses in our contract that can leave the price open.  Our contract is written in plain language with no hidden fees.  Once we give you a price in writing, our price will not change as long as all conditions are met or disclosed to us and the specifications from the job does not change.

Reputation - Peterson Movers will put our reputation and integrity for getting the job done safely and efficiently, our experience, and our desire to be honest and up front to work for you throughout your entire moving project.  This is how we have run a successfully moving business for 63+ years.

If you have read this far, you can tell that we are serious about what we do.  This is how we make our living; it is not a "job" we do on the side or the weekends--we are a full time family owned business striving to stay on top.

So, given what you now know about the moving business...are you sure you want to save a few bucks up front?
