Excavating under
a structure for the
purpose of adding a new foundation is referred to as a "lift and dig". This procedure is very cost effective and will
add incredible amounts of value and usefulness to a home with a dysfunctional
or non-existent basement. Furthermore, doing this will add
zero to minimal increase in property taxes. Unlike most other
movers, Peterson Movers has the
expertise and equipment to not only raise the house, but also
excavate under the supported structure. |

|
|
|
No.
A structure can be moved virtually any distance depending on the
height of the home and/or overhead obstructions (utility wires, stop
lights, bridges, etc). Usually paying utility companies to
move wires or finding alternate routes can enable a structure to be moved
anywhere (Note: see next question). |

|
Depending
on the height of the structure, there may be more costs due to
overhead obstructions (utility wires, stop lights, bridges,
etc). In regards to utility wires...in some municipalities,
there may be one or more utility wires that need to be raised or
dropped. One way around this is to separate the structure in
to two halves and move each halve
separately. Likewise, the
top of the structure can be lifted
off. Contact Peterson
Movers for other creative ideas for saving
money. |

There
are two different options for constructing a foundation under a new
structure. One option is to excavate the area and build a ramp
for the house to be backed down into the hole. For this
option, the foundation is constructed after the structure is in
place. The second option is to place the structure onto the
newly constructive foundation.
Peterson
Movers will help you determine what situation is best for
you. |

|
- Does moving a structure result
in any damage to the structure?
|
No.
There is no significant damage to the structure, however, since the
previous foundation could have settled, the structure may shift when
placed on a new, level foundation. This can actually be a
benefit in some cases because if a structure previously had uneven
floors, this is a chance to level the floors. |

|
|
|
- Does it matter what type of
equipment is used to move a structure?

Movers has custom hydraulic jacks powered by custom
hydraulic machines, numerous custom steal beams of varying sizes and
